A few days before the official announcement of the new Samsung Galaxy S23 smartphones, which took place last night, we had the opportunity to get our hands on the new flagships of the Korean brand, the S23, S23+, and especially the S23 Ultra, which was released on the market. we have a very soft and sincerely pleasant impression.

  • Galaxy S or Galaxy Note? The Galaxy S23 Ultra brings the best of both worlds together
  • The S Pen is that little extra that can make a difference

Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, “the best Samsung Galaxy S ever”

Less than a year after the launch of the S22 series (the S22 Ultra first launched on February 25, 2022, followed by the S22 and S22+ on March 11), the S23 range is now visible and, unsurprisingly, getting a makeover. It consists of three models, the S23, S23+ and S23 Ultra, which I had the opportunity to hold in my hands for a few minutes a few days ago.

To be honest, I haven’t had the chance to test the S22 Ultra or the other models in the range from last year, but now I’m using it a little more. I’ve had the Galaxy Z Fold4 for 4 months, and it literally changed my view of the brand and smartphones in general.

S23 Ultra, S23+ and S23 combined

Because if I left iOS a long time ago, I was in favor of the cleanest atmosphere possible, and the idea of an over-existing cover might be a brake on the purchase for me. But during tests and walks, I started to taste the Samsung ecosystem with a watch (Galaxy Watch 5 Pro), a laptop (Galaxy Book 2 Pro) and, therefore, a smartphone, the Galaxy Z Fold4. In conclusion, I was very intrigued and attentive by this year’s announcements, and with this quick first approach, I really wasn’t disappointed with what I got.

If you want to have all the technical details of the new S23, S23+ and S23 UItra, I invite you to check out the news we published last night during and after the conference:

For my part, I’ll give you my first impressions of the brand’s “Best Samsung Galaxy S Ever” while I’m working with the S23 Ultra, while the opposite would be surprising. !

Galaxy S or Galaxy Note? The Galaxy S23 Ultra brings the best of both worlds together

So, a few days ago I had the opportunity to discover and get my hands on the brand’s latest smartphone, the popular Galaxy S23, for the first time at the new offices of Samsung France.

As I said above, I have no comparison with the S22 range, but with the Galaxy Z Fold4, another flagship with a completely different style. And it must be admitted that after the fear and surprise of the folding format, it is difficult to return to a “traditional” smartphone. However, as soon as I picked up the Galaxy S23 UItra in, shall we say, “forest green,” I immediately felt a sense of well-being that is quite difficult to articulate.

Beautiful 6.8-inch QHD+ (3088x1440p) display There is certainly nothing wrong with this. In this respect, it bucks the trend of recent years where the most “premium” smartphones want to have ever more curved screens. If the “Wow” effect is clearly present, it creates more problems than positive points.

Between the difficulty of putting on shells and screen protectors, the unfortunate fact of pressing with your palm, or even apps that don’t handle curvature well, we end up telling ourselves that it might be. lie good idea. Step back and if we’re still far from the edges of iPhones or certain brands, the curve here is nice and light, and we appreciate this step back.

What is still on the screen literally amazes me, I note that it suggests 1-120Hz adaptive refresh rate and 1750 nits maximum brightness which should work wonders in the tropical sun.

The S Pen is that little extra that can make a difference

I tested the Galaxy Note a few years ago and often wondered about buying it because the hybrid aspect was interesting. Then years passed, I put this option aside. My Z Fold4 fits but doesn’t have planned storage (unless I put in a big shell), so I decided to give up…

I immediately threw myself into the S23 Ultra’s tiny stylus and immediately enjoyed using it to navigate the interface, draw letters, take notes, or just hold it. Honestly, the feel is very nice and probably the S23 UItra can differentiate itself from other premium devices in the competition.

The imaging part should also be a big highlight with the new 200 Mpx internal sensor, but we’ll tell you a little more about that during our test in a few weeks. The same for the overall performance of the device, which this time benefits everyone Qualcomm 8 Gen 2 “custom” socreplaced the much-criticized Exynos 2200 last year, which didn’t convince many people.

In short, we can’t wait to test the new Galaxy S23 range and see if all the promises of this S23 Ultra are fulfilled. Answers expected for devices to be released on February 17th!
