Not one, but two new foldable smartphones
Using the Oppo Inno Days 2022 event, the Chinese manufacturer announced two new foldable smartphones, the Find N2 and the Find N2 Flip.
On this second day of Information Day, and like last year, Oppo took the opportunity to introduce not one but two successors to last year’s foldable smartphone Find N., the new MariSilicon Y dedicated to augmented reality, audio and audio. OHealth H1, a product dedicated to health, introduces the new Oppo Find N2 Series, which consists of two smartphones, Oppo Find N2 and Oppo Find N2 Flip.
On the other hand, it should not be moved too quickly. Indeed, Oppo France has confirmed the good and bad news. We’re off to a bad start as we’ve learned that the Find N2 won’t be making its way to Europe and therefore France. On the other hand, the good news is that the new Find N2 Flip will indeed arrive in France, and it will arrive in time to compete with the Galaxy Z Flip4 (or even its successor) from a certain Korean manufacturer from the first quarter of 2023.
Oppo Find N2 is a story of format and design
While the most popular foldable smartphone is none other than Samsung with a 4:3 foldable display in portrait mode, the new Oppo Find N2 follows its predecessor and offers a 7.1-inch foldable display with an 8.4:9 aspect ratio. landscape format, so users don’t have to rotate their devices to enjoy a wider width for multimedia content. When folded, Oppo Find N2 offers a 5.54-inch external screen in 17.7: 9 format, which gives one of the most classic formats in smartphone mode, which changes the long selection of the Korean competitor.
So, the Oppo Find N2 is a more compact foldable smartphone and probably better suited for mobility. In addition, this year it is thinner and above all lighter. This was one of the shortcomings of foldable smartphones like the Galaxy Fold, which still have a very present thickness when closed and, above all, a weight that makes it closer to a tablet than a smartphone. With a weight of 237g, we are now playing in the same league as XL smartphones like iPhone 14 Pro Max or Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. Otherwise, on the design side, there is a photo unit integrated into the shell, just like the Oppo Find X5 Pro. The “back” is Gorilla Glass Victus, and the Oppo Find N2 will be available in three colors and two colors. The black version offers a vegan leather back, while the other two will have a frosted glass back. And like its predecessor, the power and/or standby button includes a physical fingerprint reader.
Folding screen, hinge and photo
As for the foldable screen itself, it’s the same as last year with a 12-layer display including a 0.03mm Flexion UTG (Ultra Thin Glass) layer. The internal display is LTPO type with a dynamic refresh rate ranging from 1 to 120Hz. The external display also offers a 120Hz refresh rate. The hinge will be thinner and have fewer parts (100 compared to 136 last year), so it has been redesigned to be more durable and lighter over time. But we still find the FlexForm mode, which allows the smartphone to open at any angle between 50° and 120°. The hinge and folding screen are certified for 400,000 opening/closing.
As for the photo unit, it is quite classic, as it consists of three cameras: classic ultra-wide-angle, telephoto and standard wide-angle. However, note the new main sensor from Sony and the relatively bright telephoto camera compared to the competition. That’s not all, as we find the MariSilicon X processor in this Find N2, which we were able to discover with the Find X5 Pro in the first part of the year. What’s more, we find a partnership with Hasselblad, which gives access to brand-specific colors and, above all, the still fun XPan mode.
Features of Tap N2
No price yet and only available for China starting this December. As we said in the introduction, this is not currently planned in France.

Oppo Find N2 Flip will be available from us
The second foldable smartphone is none other than the Oppo Find N2 Flip, a direct competitor to the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4. If we can’t get our hands on it, we’ve learned that it’s already been in development for 3 years and will go on sale in France from the first quarter of 2023. If the specifications are quite similar between Find N2 and Find N2 Flip, the difference is obvious, especially in terms of design and SoC choice.
With a completely different design, Oppo has chosen originality for the external screen, as it is not landscape type, as in, for example, the Motorola Razr. Indeed, the external screen is a portrait type, which allows you to display more notifications or others than competitors. The screen is 3.26 inches and is quite impressive compared to Samsung or Motorola smartphones.
But where Oppo also stands out is in its choice of SoC. Indeed, while the Find N2 has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, the Find N2 Flip has a Mediatek Dimensity 9000+ SoC. But that’s not all, the Oppo Find N2 Flip is a battery that stands out by offering a 4300 mAh battery, which is almost the same as the most classic smartphones and more than, for example, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4, which will allow you to have. real and good autonomy. Another big contender is only 7.65mm thick when open and 191g on the scale!
