LG OLED55A2 at the best price?
OLED panel, similar to the panels of more premium models
The A2 series takes over from the A1 series while maintaining the same series philosophy: OLED TVs are offered at a more affordable price. Aesthetically, the 2022 generation differs little from the A1 series. We always appreciate the manufacturing quality with the ultra-thin and elegant design from all sides during the meeting. Its 55-inch OLED panel offers excellent picture quality with infinite contrast ratio, deep blacks, vivid colors and excellent brightness.
This TV also provides excellent picture thanks to 4K HDR compatibility. It offers compatibility with some of the best video standards like HDR10 and Dolby Vision IQ for a cinema-like experience. The main innovation this year is that the A2 series uses the Alpha 7 Gen 5 processor (following the 2021 Alpha 7 Intelligent Processor Gen 4). This processor provides very good content scaling and very detailed rendering, especially since it incorporates artificial intelligence – LG ThinQ – to adapt the image and sound quality to the content being viewed. . As for the sound quality, thanks to compatibility with Dolby Atmos, we have the right to get immersive sound.
With some concessions
On the other hand, due to this price, you should expect certain concessions. This model is not suitable for next generation consoles as it does not have HDMI 2.1 ports enabling 4K@120Hz. However, the manufacturer offers the ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode) function to reduce the latency as much as possible. The Korean brand even includes a game optimizer to automatically adjust picture settings and improve graphics for a better gaming experience.
A more customizable OS
Finally, on the operating system side, this model will run on the latest version of webOS. The interface offered by the brand still offers intuitive and fluid navigation, but with some new features. There is a Multi View menu that allows you to split the screen in two to see two different programs. It is now possible to create a profile so that your content is suggested based on what you watch. Another function is dedicated to the family with an eye protection option for the little ones, a maximum volume limit, the ability to control usage times and a screen time report.
The latter allows you to display images in standby mode, play music when the TV is in standby mode. We find our favorite apps: Netflix, Prime Video or Disney+. The A2 range is compatible with Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa and HomeKit, so you can enjoy voice control. Finally, it’s also possible to stream content from your smartphone via Miracast or AirPlay 2.
