LG OLED48C2 at the best price?
Aesthetically the same, but less bright than the others
The LG OLED 48C2 offers a similar design to the previous generation with an almost borderless panel. The stand supporting the TV remains central, but the real difference with the 2021 C1 series is the new manufacturing design, thanks to a new composite fiber frame that reduces the weight of the entire TV.
LG also promises that its new TVs in the C2 range are 20% brighter than the old generation, but not all models are in the same boat. Indeed, the 48-inch version does not benefit from this increase in brightness due to its very high pixel density.
Perfect for next-gen consoles
Where the LG OLED 48C2 doesn’t make any sacrifices, of course, is in the rest of the spec sheet. Like the others, this TV also packs the new Alpha 9 Gen 5 processor. Compared to Gen 4, it adds technology.promotion more powerful thanks to more powerful algorithms, thus moving from 1080p content to 4K image more efficiently. Also, the tone map now covers 5000 zones compared to 576 zones on the old processor. Again, the new AI-based feature improves object detection in the scene, thus better separating them from the background.
Obviously, we then find the HDMI 2.1 technology that allows the display at 4K@120 fps for the next generation consoles (PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X), not forgetting the VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) and ALLM modes. ( Auto low latency mode to reduce latency). The audio part has also been improved, where we go from a virtual 5.1 mix on the C1 range to 7.1.2 surround on the C2 range.
Dolby Vision IQ for even deeper immersion
To further improve picture quality, LG offers compatibility with Dolby Vision IQ. This new standard is simply an evolution of the classic Dolby Vision, as HDR10+ is comparable to HDR10. remains from High dynamic range, to show a very wide dynamic range from the lightest part of the image to the darkest area, but the “IQ” note actually adds a sensor that will analyze the brightness in the room. In this way, the TV will adapt the image to your surroundings, day or night, for better perception of small details and especially dark scenes. This convenient mode can be turned off for your convenience, but you should know that it will only work with suitable content, and there are not many of them at the moment.
