Wo Long Fallen Dynasty: life, DLC, development challenges … the producers talk about it | XboxOne
Months pass and the release of the new Souls-like Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, produced by Koei Tecmo and developed by Team Ninja, approaches. At the end of September, a demo was released that allowed you to get an idea of the game. Since then, the game’s release date has been announced, and it will be March 2023. Today, the developers of the game gave a new interview, this time to our German colleagues from Xbox Dynasty, and this is an opportunity to learn a game. A little more about the title.
Lifetime, difficulty, endgame content are noted by the producers
Speaking again in this interview are the producers of the game. Masaaki Yamagiwa and Masakazu Hirayama initially expressed their enthusiasm for the game’s arrival on day one of Xbox Game Pass, noting that it would allow more players to try out the title or even discover the game as such.
As for the difficulty of their new creation, they wanted to mention that there will be many ways to modulate it, most notably through the popular morality system that will increase according to the various achievements the player gets. In addition, the RPG component of the title will allow you to change the characteristics and weapons of the character to suit each one’s play style. They also revealed that they took into account player feedback at the end of the demo to remove things that seemed too unfair and thus achieve a current but satisfying difficulty.
“Especially for casual players, we try to make the game fun and enjoyable through the various challenges offered in the game. You can use these challenges to learn your opponent’s attack patterns, passing and blocking techniques, and how to play in general. You can also play online with a friend, which , allows you to play in a group and makes the game a little more accessible. You can also hire NPCs to help you. Here, for example, famous Chinese military commanders, warlords fight alongside you. »
As for the title’s lifespan, the two producers estimate that it will take around 40 hours to complete the story for the classic experience. This will significantly increase this time, not counting activities and side quests in addition to end-game content. In addition, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty will not stop after reaching the end credits of the game, because like other productions of the studio, a new game plus mode will be available. The latter will let you choose new difficulty modes and add weapon levels and rare weapons that weren’t available during the first run.
Information about bosses, development on Xbox and DLCs
In these types of games, the main stages, the bosses, always represent the final test of the game sequence. That’s why Xbox wanted to know if those involved in Dynasty Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty covered multiple stages. The two producers steered clear of the topic, preferring not to spoil players, but did mention that some enemies without specific stages may have different attack styles after reaching half life. So, to defeat the enemies of the game, you have to wait for many trials to learn their attack pattern.
As for possible DLCs for the game, Masaaki Yamagiwa and Masakazu Hirayama explained that no details have been shared about them yet, but they will be available to all players, not just through Xbox Gamepass. Nothing concrete, but it confirms their existence at the same time.
Finally, while the debate has animated social networks in recent weeks, Xbox Dynasty wondered about the potential difficulty of developing a game on Xbox consoles. For Team Ninja, it doesn’t seem to be a problem, because according to them, without going too far to say that it was easy, the development was a very good experience for them and went very well. By the way, we also learn that the game will run in 4K and 60 frames per second on Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5. There is no word on the Xbox Series S, which will necessarily have a lower resolution. The game will also feature different graphics modes to prioritize frame rate or visual quality.
Recall that Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty will put you in the shoes of a Chinese soldier at the end of the Han Dynasty, in a world torn apart by war and having to deal specifically with monsters from Chinese mythology. It will be available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Playstation 5, Playstation 4, and PC from March 3, 2023, and will therefore be available on Xbox Game Pass upon release.
